OKI ML7246 is a 2.4 GHz IEEE802.15.4 Wireless device with a full speed USB 2.0 Interface
The ML7246 reduces packaging and
development costs and contributes power savings for use in IEEE802.15.4 based
USB dongles by integrating the USB interface directly into the MAC/PHY device.
This targets the device for remote control and sensor network markets. Mass production shipments of the device
will begin in January 2008.
The ML7246 features a Full Speed
USB 2.0 interface and a IEEE802.15.4 compliant 2.4GHz RF, PHY and MAC on a
single chip. By offering all these
functions in a single chip, the ML7246 enables mass market adoption of
IEEE802.15.4 to personal computing platforms.
Full-speed USB2.0 interface, HID
class
Since the device enumerates as a
HID class device driver, which is a standard on PCs, it eliminates the need to
install a specific device driver for products based on this
device.
Includes a power-saving
function
The ML7246 includes unique
capabilities which allow a PC in "standby" mode to "wake-up" to the normal PC
mode when specific frames are received from another device in it's network. This function allows users to enable
power saving standby mode when there is no communication; thereby saving power
for the overall system.
OKI will continue to enhance its
wireless LSI product lineup focusing on ZigBee® for short-range wireless
equipment and IEEE802.15.4 for the remote control, sensor network and ubiquitous
network markets.
