Oki Semiconductor
Creates Independent Divisions to Emphasize Commitment to Communications
Markets July 17, 2000, Sunnyvale, Ca —
To better meet the increasingly diverse needs of its expanding customer base in
the US communications markets, Oki Semiconductor has aligned its expanding
engineering, marketing and sales forces into three independent operating
divisions: Optical Components, Silicon Solutions, and Research and Development.
Each division will be managed by a divisional president and chief operating
officer.
Leading the realignment effort is Toshiyuki Matsumoto, newly named new chief
executive officer at Oki Semiconductor Company in the US. Reporting to him are:
The Silicon Solutions Division, under the direction of Shusaku Sumida,
is responsible for semiconductor products. These include telecommunications
products like the CTx12 computer telephony devices; ASICs; the µPlatä
System-On-a-Chip (SOC) platform; system LSIs; and memory devices such as Oki's
application-specific memory ICs. Mr. Sumida has been with Oki for 26 years.
The Research and Development Division is headed by Yoshio Nishikawa, a
28-year veteran of Oki. This division is responsible for the design and
development of high-speed communications ICs, the ASIC Design Center and CAD
technology, and quality assurance.
Oki Semiconductor's new CEO, Mr. Matsumoto, joined Oki Electric Industry Co.,
Ltd. in 1972. From 1980 to 1985 he served as treasurer of Oki Semiconductor,
after which he returned to Oki in Japan to manage the human resources and
accounting sections. In 1990, he became a director and the vice president for
finance at Oki America, Inc. From 1994 until his reassignment to Oki
Semiconductor, he was on the management team of the Business Process
Re-engineering and Information Technology (BPR & IT) division of Oki
Electric.
