How do I evaluate the MSM9802/03/05/P05 using an Oki Board?
Descriptive Answer:
Oki Semiconductor recommends the following process.
(1) Prepare the MSM9800/36 Evaluation Board, Voice tool AR204 or AR205.
(2) Program* voice ROM data into an EPROM prepared with the MSM9800/36 Eva Board at factory shipment, on AR204 or AR205 system.
(3) Add the Programmed EPROM on the MSM9800/36 Eva Board and start evaluation.
(4) After checking voice quality and IC operation, proceed to manufacturing mask /OTP** ROM Entry with Oki.
If customers have problems during evaluation on their PCB they can add manufacturing masked MSM9802/03/05/P05***-xxxRS into the 18pin DIP**** socket on the MSM9802 Demo Board and start evaluation.

* Since Oki Semiconductor installs a standard code in EPROMs, customers will need an EPROM Eraser to erase the EPROMs before programming.
** Oki Semiconductor voice tool currently does not support programming voice data for MSM98P05, manufacturing programming is required.
*** The MSM98P05-xxxRS has a 20-pin DIP package. Since, Pin 1 and Pin 20 are used for programming only. The leads of Pin 1 (VPP) and Pin 20 (/PGM) may be bent up or cut-off to fit the socket after programming.
The MSM9805 have only 18-pins, the MSM98P05 has 20-pins.
**** The MSM9802/03/05/ are available in SOP or SSOP packages. The MSM9802 Demo Board does not support SOP or SSOP packages
